hello again, lindsey!
how was rehab? i see on thecelebrity sites (that can be so mean to you, i know!) that you are back to drinking–or should i say back to clubbing, at least. i don’t know that anyone has caught you actually drinking. though i have seen (blacked out) photos of you showing your lower nether regions in public again. (is there an upper nether region, or was that redundant? help, lindsey!)
b. calls you LiLo. Is that a thing you like? Because I myself only think of the that animated movie with the Hawaiian alien. I never even saw it, but that’s what i think of instead of you! isn’t that funny? i thought you would think so!
well, anyway. i just wanted to check in and say hello. last week was spring break, and south by southwest, and we had friends in town, and saw soooooo many bands, and were up way too late, and had soooo much fun! by the end, i was looking for a break from spring break! too much partying! i know you know what i mean! right?
(bands i saw:
photo atlas, panthers, cold war kids, the fratellis, mando diao, great lakes myth society, okkervil river, busdriver, lovemakers, rock plaza central, the polyphonic spree, birdmonster, mika, margot and the nuclear so and so’s, jandek, farraby lionheart, lesbians on ecstasy, junior senior. and some more bands whose names i never got…)
so, anyway, this week has been resting, and catching up with school. turns out there was a paper that was due, that i hadn’t even started! have you ever been unprepared for a movie role, Linds? that’s what it was like! and i was so tired from all my partying! you know?
so i have been doing some writing, as the previous posts indicate, just not here on this site. and not to you. but i haven’t forgotten about you, i promise!!!
i will try to say hello to you more often, and keep you up to date on what i’m doing.
hope you’re ok! stay on the wagon, ok!
(ha ha! jk!!!!!!)
once in a while, after eating my hard boiled egg in between classes, i like to leave the eggshell sitting outside. you know, just to let the birds what i’m capable of.
i imagine that to them it’s something like leaving the heads of slain warriors on poles near the enemy’s camp. just a really hardcore statement about badassness.
which i could certainly use whenever i can get it.
so it’s over. they stopped school so that i could relax, and i did exactly the opposite.
sxsw is over, and there were tons of bands, and i saw one ton of them.
i did write about out. just not here.
check here for the in depth live action of it (though perhaps it wasn’t as personal as on this site, since it was an actual public blog) and here for the actually published recap.
so i have been blogging!
hopefully, i can tell you all about it soon.
right now, i have a story due.
this is a preview piece i wrote for the paper that for some reason didn’t get published. Not sure why–the communication between editors and me is somewhat minimal. but i thought it was ok:
THE FRATELLIS.
Thursday, March 15 1:00 a.m.
Dirty Dog Bar (505 E 6th St)
If you’ve ever stumbled across a great band before they broke big, then you’re familiar with the bittersweet taste of their ensuing mainstream success. Suddenly, they’re on every radio station, and their concert t shirts are being worn by people that don’t even know they’re from Scotland. I’m feeling that way about Scottish rock trio the Fratellis. While I have been rocking out to the hyperactive “doo duh doos“ of the Fratellis for the last coupld of months (having heard them on an independent radio station on the internet, dontchaknow), wondering why they aren’t being hailed as the Next Big Thing, Apple has been busy making them exactly that. They’re song “Flathead”is heard in the latest ipod commercial, so they’ve just one global. But rightly so—the band has the high energy of a Franz Ferdinand, the hooks of the Arctic Monkeys and the pure danceability of…well, of no rock band I can think of. This is a band you should not miss. I promise you’ll walk out humming a tune, even if you had never heard it before. Their music is addictive, I tell you, and a lot of people are going to get hooked. And I couldn’t be happier about it. I mean, I like to share. I’m just gonna have to line up a little earlier now.
when i’m not writing here (like this last week or two), i’m writing here.
here’s proof:
and then most recently, there’s the sxsw ish: (that’s “issue” to those of us in the biz [that's "business" for those of us to busy to say it]):

there’s more, but who has time? i’m just soooo BUSY….
so teacher let the monkeys out. and maybe i will have some time to say hello to you, dear blog.
i am volunteering for sxsw today and tomorrow. and i am sure thre will be adventures. there already have been, to some extent. i will tell you with all my hours of free time. i promise.
but for now, hello. how are you.
